The Altius Alliance is keen to offer places for the School Direct 2017-18 cohort.

Typical departmental profile:

The Drama department has two fully equipped drama studios with full lighting rigs, staging blocks, curutains and sound system as well as a brand new auditorium in the Sixth Form Centre, which acts as another teaching space.

The department consists of a Director of Faculty plus two Drama teachers.

We have approximately 32 KS3 classes in Drama. Schemes are designed across Year 7, 8 and 9 to develop voice, movement and characterisation, as well as both devising and script work opportunities.

At GCSE Drama we follow the Edexcel exam board.

Extra-curricular provision is a focus of the Faculty. Across the Performing Arts Faculty there are Drama Clubs for Years 7 – 10 (led by Student Leaders), a G&T Academy, an annual school musical production, two annual Faculty Festivals as well as numerous musical bands/ensembles.

We welcome trainee teachers and have in the past few years assisted with the training and development of over ten trainees. We work closely with Manchester Metropolitan University and Manchester University and as a school have been involved in School Direct since 2012 – when the scheme first started. One member of drama staff is an experienced Subject Mentor, as well as a Professional Mentor outside of the faculty.
