The Altius Alliance is keen to offer places for the School Direct 2017-18 cohort.
Here is a typical departmental profile:
The PE department currently has a six badminton court sports hall, gymnasium, dance studio, Astroturf and three outdoor netball courts. The department is made up of seven staff and two curriculum support assistants who teach across all of the Key Stages.
At KS3 all students have four lessons over the fortnight in which they are taught four key strands: skills, knowledge, evaluation and leadership. These key skills are taught through a wide variety of subjects including: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Dance, Football, Hockey, HRE, Netball, OAA, Rounders, Rugby and Tennis.
The department is also responsible for the running of the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme which develops students’ confidence as well as their time management, leadership and interpersonal skills. Students in Year 10 can opt to do the Bronze Qualification and in Year 12 students can opt for the Gold Qualification.
Students in Year 10 and 11 have one hour of Core PE a week where all of our Year 10 students study either the Sports Leader or Dance Leader Level 1 Award.
At GCSE and Btec Sport Level 2 we follow the Edexcel specification. We also offer A Level PE, where we follow the OCR specification.
Students can be fully involved in sport at CHHS. We run House Sport events during curriculum time and students can opt into Wednesday afternoon sport sessions to represent their House in a multitude of sporting activities.
To enhance the activities taught in curriculum time we have an extensive extra-curricular programme which includes entering teams in local, borough, regional and national competitions as well as promoting leadership and officiating opportunities for our KS4 students.
